When Dennis Wright was planning his funeral, the Michigan man had a simple request for mourners. He asked them to skip flowers at his funeral and bring children’s shoes for kids in need instead.
And when he passed away of cancer recently, Wright got his wish. The floor at Snow Funeral Home was filled with boxes of new shoes, which will be donated to families who need them. Brian Wright says his father wore shoes until they had holes in them when he was growing up and that he was “always excited” when he could finally get a new pair. And thanks to his mourners, some children can experience that same joy.
