Sorry in advance if this makes you burst spontaneously into waterworks, but it's a very touching, short tribute from Jimmy Fallon to his mother. His mother, Gloria, passed away last week. He cancelled last week's shows and returned last night and updated the audience about what happened. Watch the tribute to his mom below. (sorry again...you'll probably bawl)
Jimmy also had Taylor Swift on to perform her song "New Years Day" which oddly applied to his story that he shared about his mother above. She wasn't scheduled to perform but didn't hesitate to step in and make the episode special for Jimmy. Again, I cried.
The lyrics of the song go "You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi/ I can tell it's gonna be a long road/ I'll be there if you're the toast of the town, babe/ Or if you strike out and you're crawling home."
The Roots drummer, Questlove, tweeted after the performance.
I’m just realizing Taylor didn’t readjust the song’s lyrics for tonight’s performance. But the narrative literally applies to the words Jimmy spoke of his mother. Wow. You can’t plan these things @taylorswift13 @FallonTonight— Questlove Gomez (@questlove) November 14, 2017
