Sorry to start this Monday with a sad one, but I found this very fascinating and insanely sad at the same time.
This killer whale named Tahlequah/ J35 gave birth to a calf that was already deceased last month and since then she has been swimming around with it keeping it afloat.
I guess scientists say that mama whale didn't want to part with her dead baby for 17 days because she was severely grieving. Mama whales have transported their dead baby calves for up to a week at a time, which is insane and insanely sad.

J35 update: "The ordeal of J35 carrying her dead calf for at least seventeen days and 1,000 miles is now over, thank goodness."
