Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are pitching in to help those impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19).
As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise, the couple has contributed $1 million to aid relief efforts amid the ongoing pandemic. According to PEOPLE, part of Ripa and Consuelos’ donation will go to the New York Governor’s Office as the city is in dire need of ventilators. In addition, the contribution will also be allocated to WIN, an organization that runs 11 women’s shelters throughout New York City.
Per recent statistics, New York has been affected the hardest by the wide-spreading disease, with more than 5,700 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and at least 38 deaths as of Friday morning (March 20). Cases in Washington and California have also exceeded into the thousands. To date, there have been 14,360 COVID-19 cases and 217 deaths in the United States.
Ripa and Consuelos join the growing list of celebrities putting their money toward aiding those in need during the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds donated $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, two organizations that assist in providing food for older adults and low-income families.
Ciara and Russell Wilson pledged a million meals to Food LifeLine, a non-profit organization in Seattle serving over 300 food banks amid the pandemic. "We want to encourage everyone out there to join us in whatever way you can, big or small. Everything makes a difference, everything we do together makes a difference," Ciara said in a video alongside Wilson. "Together we will conquer this tough time that we're going through. We have faith."
