Earlier today, Ellen Pompeo shared a sweet message to her Grey's Anatomy fans on Instagram as she announced she will be leaving the show after being on it for 19 seasons.
"I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GREY and the show for 19 seasons!" wrote Pompeo, 53. "Through it all….none of it …would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You all are RIDERS and you all have made the ride so fun and ICONIC!! I love you madly and appreciate you right back. This isn't your first time on the rollercoaster...you know the show must go on and I'll definitely be back to visit. With a lot of love and immense gratitude XoE 🙏♥"
If you haven't seen the fall finale episode, this is a spoiler alert warning!! Meredith's storyline so far is that she left "Seattle for Boston, where she accepted a position with the Catherine Fox Foundation to research Alzheimer's disease." In her post, Pompeo did say that she will be "back to visit" so her leaving the show doesn't mean that she will be gone completely.
